4 ESSENTIAL SUPPLEMENTS YOUR BODY REALLY NEEDS Supple10

(Natural News) In the U.K. alone, the dietary supplements market is now valued at 400 million euros. In fact, nearly 50 percent of U.K. consumers reported taking dietary supplements last year. The country is currently spending more money on purchasing dietary supplements compared with painkillers. According to a recent report in Express.co.uk, chlorophyll now takes the spotlight as the latest craze in the dietary supplement market. The report also noted that the compound is an excellent source of vitamins A, C, E and K, as well as essential antioxidants. Daily chlorophyll consumption was associated with cancer prevention, immune system stimulation and gut cleansing.
In addition to chlorophyll, the report also listed four essential supplements that are equally beneficial to the body.
Vitamin D – The “sunshine vitamin” is hailed for its many benefits. Previous research showed that vitamin D not only promoted bone health, but helped stave off flu and even cancer. A team of researchers at the Queen Mary University of London found that vitamin D supplementation kept respiratory diseases such as cough and colds at bay. According to the experts, vitamin D supplementation resulted in a 12 percent reduction in the proportion of patients who had at least one acute respiratory tract infection. The findings were published in British Medical Journal.  Another study published in Journal of the American Medical Association revealed that vitamin D supplementation significantly reduced the risk of cancer in postmenopausal women.
Magnesium – Magnesium is essential in promoting sleep and reducing muscle tension. A study carried out by researchers from the University of Bristol and University of Eastern Finland showed that magnesium supplements reduced the risk of bone fracture by 44 percent. Green leafy vegetables, nuts, and whole grains are excellent sources of magnesium, according to the National Institutes of Health.
Vitamin B12 – Vitamin B12 is an important nutrient that promotes a healthy nervous system. The vitamin is also associated with a lower risk of depression, stress, and brain shrinkage. In addition, vitamin B12 helps maintain a healthy digestive system and improves cholesterol levels. Vitamin B12 is found to have protective properties against breast, colon, lung and prostate cancer. Furthermore, the vitamin promotes healthy skin, hair and nails.
Omega-3 – A vast number of studies have demonstrated that taking omega-3 supplements promote better heart health. In fact, a recent study published in the European Journal of Applied Physiology revealed that the supplement improved the overall heart health and reduced the risk of depression in patients. “Omega-3 favorably affects a number of risk factors for cardiovascular disease, and at the top of the list is reducing the risk of sudden death from heart attack,” Penny Kris Etherton reported in LiveScience.com. Etherton is a distinguished Professor of Nutrition at Pennsylvania State University.
The global dietary supplements market
A report released by Zion Market Research early this year revealed that the global dietary supplements market was valued at $132.8 billion in 2016 and is projected to increase to $220.3 billion in 2022. The market is also expected to have a compound annual growth rate of nearly nine percent between 2017 and 2022. According to the report, the significant growth in dietary supplement market was largely due in part to the aging population and the consumers’ increased awareness of preventive health care.
The report also revealed that Europe was the leading market for dietary supplement products in 2016. Western Europe, in particular, was the continents’ leading market for the products. The region has also showed tremendous potential in future growth. The report noted that the rising aging population, higher prevalence of lifestyle conditions and increasing health care costs were among factors that contributed to Europe’s dietary supplement market.
