Pentagon chief James Mattis met with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Kiev on Thursday, as the country celebrated its independence day. Mattis vowed that the US would support Ukraine “in all things,” specifically with providing lethal weapons to the government still struggling with a civil war since coming to power in a 2014 coup.
