The incident happened at just after 10:30 p.m. local time on Monday when people in the area said they heard a loud "bang" which some people described as an explosion. Videos from the scene showed people fleeing from the venue in panic.

It was not immediately clear whether an explosion actually occurred, though some people appeared to have been treated for injuries. A large number of emergency services - including multiple ambulances - are at the scene.

"Police responded to reports of an incident at Manchester Arena. Please stay away from the area," Greater Manchester Police said in a tweet, providing no further information.
