DAHBOO 77 - PIPE BOMB EXPLODES AT SEASIDE PARK SEMPER 5K CHARITY RUN, EVACUATION AND LOCKDOWN

An explosion at the Seaside Park Semper Five 5K Charity Run has put the community on lockdown, with a source telling PIX11 News that three pipe bombs were left in a garbage can that exploded, but only one went off.

Officers are checking other garbage cans in the area, and authorities are asking everyone in the area to stay inside their homes and away from the race area.

The explosion occurred at 9:35 a.m. at D Street and Ocean Avenue, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Spokesman Al Della Fave. No one was injured and no structures were damaged, but the area has been placed on lockdown.

Traffic has been closed along Ocean Avenue heading into Seaside Park, according to the Ocean County Sheriff Facebook page.

The race's Facebook page described it as an "explosion of some nature."

Della Fave said New Jersey State Police are investigating a second device that has been found on the scene.
