Two Flights Make Emergency Landings After Leaving London's Heathrow Airport

A United Airlines plane bound for Chicago has made an emergency landing in Edinburgh, shortly after taking off from London Heathrow Airport.
The Boeing 767 was circling around the city in order to dump fuel, before it finally landed at Edinburgh Airport at around 08:45 GMT.

It diverted to the Scottish capital shortly after taking off from London at 07:00 GMT and was about an hour into its flight before having to make an emergency landing.

American Airline flight AA105 declared an emergency while still flying over England, and diverted its course to head back to London’s Heathrow Airport. The emergency was reportedly caused by smoke being seen in the cockpit.
The emergency was declared around 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time while American Airlines flight 105 was near the town of Swindon, England.
