Three Dead in U.S. Supermarket Shooting · September 11, 2012

An ex-Marine wearing desert camouflage began shooting at his place of employment in Old Bridge, New Jersey. Terence Tyler, 23, left his job at 3:30 a.m. Friday morning “and returned 20 minutes later to the closed store with a handgun and an assault rifle similar to an AK-47.”

Tyler began firing outside the store at an employee, who ran inside to warn other coworkers. Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan said he believes no one individual was a target, but that everyone was targeted.

Tyler fired his gun at 5 other employees, killing Christina LoBrutto, 18 and Bryan Breen, 24. Other workers fled. Tyler fired 16 shots total, then took out his handgun and killed himself.

Tyler was discharged from the marines in 2010 after spending only 2 years in service. He apparently suffered depression and had other difficulties.
