Look into natural ways to survive cold and flu season is a healthy choice, from drinking enough fluids to washing your hands regularly to stop viruses spread. You can also get help from some natural and delicious foods. One of the effective recipes is prepare soup with carrot, orange and ginger.

This soup is packed with heaps of vitamin A from the carrots, vitamin C from the oranges and the spicy ginger aids in digestion as well as with excellent warm properties.

How to Prepare Carrot, Orange and Ginger Soup

Ingredients:

•1½ lbs. raw carrots, chopped
•3 cups vegetable stock
•3 cups filtered water
•1 fresh orange
•½ cup sweet onion, chopped
•1 stalk celery, chopped
•2 cloves of garlic, chopped
•3-4 dates, pitted
•1½ inch fresh ginger root
•2 tablespoons coconut oil
•1 tablespoon orange zest
•1 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions:

Add coconut oil, garlic, onions, celery and sea salt in a soup pot, cook on medium heat for 10 minutes.

Add the carrots and cook for another 10 minutes, then add the vegetable stock and filtered water. Keep cooking for 10 minutes or longer until the carrots are tender.

Pour the hot liquids with vegetables in high speed blender and add all the remaining ingredient except the orange and ginger, blend them until smooth.

Now add the orange and ginger, blend again until smooth.

Reheat and garnish with the seeds or herbs you like. Enjoy.

There are many other foods and herbs that can help you get over the cold or flu more quickly, try to add these immune boosting foods to your diet to reduce the symptoms of the common cold or prevent it:

Kiwi Fruit-

A study found that kiwi has ability to reduce the symptoms of a cold. As it is loaded with Vitamin C, along with B-vitamins and other antioxidant compounds has been proven to boost the immune system to help you overcome and prevent sickness.

Apple Cider Vinegar-

Mix apple cider vinegar in some juice or tea and drink it, it will help you prevent the colds and flu as it helps your body’s PH levels on track to protect your immune system.

And it is an anti-viral and anti-inflammatory agent as well, to fight the virus and relieve the cold symptoms.
