Powerful Medicinal Herbs for Pain Relief (With DIY Recipes to Get Their Benefits)

Many painkillers we use to soothe our daily aches are doing more harm to your body as they are addictive and can cause serious damage to the liver, kidneys, and intestines. Therefore more and more people are looking for natural alternatives instead of these drugs to deal with pain.

Here are some common medicinal herbs can be used for this purpose and they can be found easily in your kitchen:
Turmeric
Turmeric does as a pain relief to those who suffer from osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. This is due to its anti-inflammatory properties that work to destroy the free radicals in the body that are renowned for damaging body cells.
Turmeric Tea
4 cups of water
1 teaspoon turmeric
Lemon or honey (or both if you like) to serve
Add the turmeric to the boiled water, mix well and let the mixture simmer for 10-15 minutes with a low heat. Then remove from the heat and strain using a fine sieve. Pour into serving cups and add lemon or honey. Enjoy.
Feverfew
Another popular herb used for herbal pain relief, it works well in the treatment of migraine headaches, as it relaxes contracted blood vessels and increases blood flow to the brain.
Feverfew Tea
fresh feverfew
1 cup boiling water
Chop the leaves of fresh feverfew into small pieces. Place 1 tsp. of leaves into a tea ball. Set the tea ball into a drinking cup. Pour 1 cup of boiling water over the tea ball. Let the tea to steep for five minutes. Remove the tea ball and drink your tea.
Boswellia
Boswellia is important in reducing inflammation, it has been widely used in the traditional Ayurvedic medicine of India. It is often used to soothe pain from sports injuries and also helps with low back pain and knee pain.
Anti-Inflammation Smoothie with Boswellia
Ingredients
1 Cup Coconut or Almond Milk
1-3 Tblsp hemp protein
1 Cup frozen blueberries
2 Tblsp freshly ground flax seed
1 Tblsp Turmeric
1 Tblsp Boswellia
1 Tblsp Ceylon Cinnamon
1 Raw Date
¼ tsp probiotic powder
Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend for 1 min or until smooth. Serve immediately.
Ginger
Ginger has a long history as a natural treatment for inflammation and pain as well. It has a powerful antioxidant effect, enhances blood circulation, and promotes gastric secretion. It is used in many treatments for chronic joint pain or arthritis.
You can make ginger tea easily: one teaspoon of chopped fresh root simmered in a cup of water for about 10 minutes, then drink.
White willow bark
Studies showed that white willow bark may be beneficial in relieving pain associated with several conditions, including headache, low back pain and arthritis.
It contains salicin, which is a chemical similar to aspirin , it is this compound that thought to be responsible for the pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects of the herb.
White Willow Bark Tea
1-2 teaspoons of White willow bark
8 ounces of water
2 teaspoons of honey
Add white willow bark to the water, then boil for some minutes until it’s boiled, turn off the heat and allow it to steep between 20 and 30 minutes. Once the bark is done steeping, strain the bark out and compost it. Add honey for a better taste, enjoy.
