If you still not change over your housekeeping cleaners to natural and toxic free solutions, it’s time now!
Below is a soft, pleasant to smell, and eco-friendly leaning wipe you can make by yourself:
Citrus Scented Homemade Cleaning Wipes
Ingredients:
1 container (a shallow dish-plastic or glass) with a lid works well (large enough to hold a dozen cloths)
12 thin cloths (utility cloths work great- or cut up recycled old t-shirts)
15 drops of lemon essential oil
15 drops of orange essential oil
1 1/2 cups of vinegar (white distilled)
1 1/2 cups of water
2 tablespoons of baking soda
2 tablespoons of fragrance and dye free liquid soap (hand or dish soap)
Directions:
Add the 1 1/2 cups of vinegar (white distilled), 1 1/2 cups of water, 2 tablespoons of baking soda, and 2 tablespoons of fragrance and dye free liquid soap (hand or dish soap) in a bowl and gently mix.
Add the 15 drops of lemon essential oil and the 15 drops of orange essential oil and mix. Let the mixture sit until it quits fizzing. Add the cloths into the bowl and with hands squish the cloths until all are wet.
Gently squeeze the water (not completely) and neatly place the cloths in the plastic container, making sure the cloths are good and damp. Close with the sealable lid. Store at room temperature, pulling out a cloth whenever you need to clean.
If you want a clean and chemical-free home, try to use the natural cleaners. With the following list of grocery store basics, you can clean just about anything.
Baking Soda:
Baking soda works well to remove smelly odors and remove stains, making it a prime candidate for a bathroom and kitchen cleaner.
Borax:
Borax is a laundry booster that can be used in a few different ways around the house.
Castile Soap:
Castile soap is an oil based soap, that can be used to clean almost anything in your home.
Cornstarch:
Cornstarch can be used as a starching solution for clothing. Cornstarch also absorbs oils and greases, making it a great help in the laundry room or for stains on countertops.
Essential Oils:
Essential oils help add a pleasing scent to homemade cleaning solutions.
Lemons and Lemon Juice:
Lemons can be great for scrubbing copper bottom pots. The juice works to clean and shine the pans.
Salt:
Salt is an abrasive solution for scrubbing. Use salt to get rid of rust and mildew.
Toothpaste:
Toothpaste can be used to clean silver. It can also be used to remove stains on white clothing.
Vinegar:
Vinegar can be used as a fabric softener in the rinse cycle of your washing machine. Vinegar makes a great all-purpose cleaner.
Hydrogen Peroxide:
Hydrogen peroxide can be used as a disinfectant. It also is one of the most effective blood stain removers.
