Garlic is a wonder plant, it’s good for more than just cooking, health, and can be really helpful in controlling both insects and fungal diseases in the garden and yard.

Read to learn how to use garlic in the garden:

1. Use garlic to make garden spray

Ingredients:

120g fresh garlic (about 1/4 lb)
2 tbsp paraffin oil (mineral oil, or olive oil, optional)
20g natural soap powder
1⁄2 liter water
Chop the garlic into small pieces, and mix them with other ingredients in a large bowl. Leaving it aside for 2 days , this will enable the garlic to infuse throughout the spray mixture. Now strain the mixture and pour into a spray bottle.

Store this spray in a cool, dark place and use it in your garden, it will protect plants from insect damage and fungal growth.

2. Use garlic to protect trees

Try planting garlic at the base of peach/nectarine trees to reduce curly leaf infection. Planted around trees, their strong scent also deters browsers, and may be effective as a peach borer deterrent.

3. Use garlic as a fungicide

If you spot gray or white powdery spots on your plants, garlic can be helpful. And it’s simple to make a garlic fungicide, puree 5-10 garlic cloves with a pint of water in a blender, let steep for an hour, strain, and spray on plants.

4. Use garlic to ward off mosquito

Use the garlic based spray in your garden and you may get some of its insect-repelling benefits, including mosquitoes. This is because that the powerful compounds such as allicin which garlic releases are inimical to mosquitoes.

Try this spray: let a few minced cloves of garlic infuse an ounce of mineral oil for 24 hours, strain, and mix the garlic-scented oil with 2 cups of water and 1 teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Pour into a spray bottle.

5. Use garlic to protect your pets

Garlic not only repels mosquitoes, but it also repels ticks, fleas and other parasites. Some pet foods contain dehydrated garlic to repel parasites that feed on pets.

6. Use garlic for the chook health

Adding finely chopped garlic to your little ladies’ food and water monthly is a good natural worm preventative. It also stimulates digestive organs, treats intestinal infections and bacteria, is a wonderful disinfectant, alleviates catarrh and benefits the liver and gall bladder.
