You always hear medical researchers tell you to apply your sunscreen before heading outdoors for some fresh air and sunshine, but what you do not hear enough of is how harmful chemical filled sunscreens can be for the skin. What you should be using to help protect your skin from harsh sunburns caused by the sun’s rays are natural oils Mother Earth provides.

Not only are natural oils from Mother Earth chemical free, but they are beneficial to your skin and reduce signs of aging while keeping your skin well protect from other harsh environmental factors too such as dry air. If you are wondering, what natural oils you can use as sunscreen and for pampering your skin from head to toe the list below will help you.

1. Avocado Oil

You have heard of avocado oil being good for hydrating and softening your hair, but this oil also contains high amounts of vitamins A, B, D and E along with essential fatty acids and lecithin. These essential nutrients are necessary for protecting, nourishing and repairing the skin. Not only that, the nutrients help act as a natural SPF, which prevents you from getting a sunburn while playing in the sun.

2. Carrot Seed Oil

You already know that the high amount of vitamin A in carrots is essential for eye health, but did you know that same vitamin extract from carrot seeds is essential for protecting skin health too. Well, vitamin A is, which is why carrot seed oil works wonders as a natural sunscreen for preventing sunburns. It even helps hydrate skin while keeping it firm and toned.

3. Coconut Oil

Coconut’s and sunshine go perfect together. Coconut oil contains natural antioxidants in it that help block the damaging effects the sun’s rays give off that cause a bad sunburn. Coconut oil also helps soothe sunburns and has the ability to repair damaged sunburned skin. Using the oil regularly on the skin is also, a great way too protect it against skin cancer.

4. Grapeseed Oil

One of your greatest natural weapons against the sun is grapeseed oil. It is rich in oligometric proanthocyanidins, which are antioxidants that help fight off the sun’s UVR rays while protecting your skin from burning while you are out spending time in the sun. The oil even helps skin cells repair when they need it. This makes grapeseed oil not only a super weapon against the sun, but also against aging too. In fact, the antioxidants in grapeseed oil are twenty times more potent than vitamin C.

5. Hemp Seed Oil

Closest to the body’s natural oil is hemp seed oil extracted from the seeds of hemp. This is because hemp mimics the lipids in skin providing a protecting layer that prevents sunburns while you are spending the day doing things in the sun.

6. Jojoba Oil

Extracted from desert shrubs, jojoba oil is one of the most effective oils to use as a natural sunscreen. Not oil does jojoba oil help protect the skin from harmful UV rays, but it also helps treat eczema, psoriasis, flaking dry skin and skin inflammation. It has the ability to protect and heal the skin because it contains myristic acid, which is fatty acid that helps hydrate and nourish the skin.

Other outstanding oils to use for preventing sunburns while you are out enjoying Mother Nature on a hot sunny day are macadamia, rice bran, sea buckthorn, sesame seed, soybean, wheat germ and red raspberry seed. These oils you can find at your local whole food grocery store.
