‘I Don’t Let Anyone Say Mean Things to People’: Little Boy Stands Up to Man Cursing Out Woman

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — A little boy in California recently stood up to a man after witnessing the stranger catcalling and cursing out a woman who was out for a run.
The woman happened to be secular singer/songwriter Julia Price, who shared her story on Facebook last week in explaining how much the child had made an impression on her.
She explained that as she was out for a run on Nov. 18, a man loudly began catcalling at her, “Sexy lady! Hey, hey, hey, sexy lady!”
Price ignored the man and kept on running, which in turn made the catcaller angry. He began to curse her out, spewing profanities.
“I ripped off my headphones, prepared to stand up for myself,” Price outlined.
But a little boy nearby, only identified as James, was watching the incident as he walked with his mother and younger sister. James spoke up to defend Price, who was just a stranger to him, thinking that a man should always protect a woman.
‘Hey! That is not nice to say to her and she didn’t like you yelling at her. You shouldn’t do that because she is a nice girl and I don’t let anyone say mean things to people,” James declared to the man. “She’s a girl like my sister and I will protect her.”
The man, who had been eating lunch outside, then became embarrassed and gathered his items to leave. Price asked the mother if she could hug the child to tell him thank you.
“I told him how grateful I was for him,” she recalled. “He just shrugged and said, ‘Well, I just wanted to make sure your heart was okay.’”
As of press time, the status has now received over 967,000 likes and over 169,000 shares.
“I hope he goes on to lead many movements and to protect all of his ‘sisters’ and of course his ‘brothers’ as well,” Price said.
In an article entitled “Real Men Are Warriors Who Protect,” Dennis Rainey of Family Life Ministries says that men are called by God to take a stand against evil.
“Here’s the point, guys: God made us to pierce the darkness,” he writes. “And when men don’t embrace beliefs, they are paralyzed and neutralized by the culture. They won’t step forward and can’t step up because they don’t have the mandate of truth resonating in their souls.”
“In the absence of real men pushing back against evil, the culture continues its downward spiral and becomes increasingly shameless and vulgar,” Rainey continues. “Do not be overcome by evil. Step up and kindly overcome evil with good.”
