We’d all agree that dandruff can be very embarrassing, especially if you’re fond of wearing dark-colored clothes. Thus, those who are suffering from dandruff have been in search for the most effective, natural treatments that will keep their head, dandruff-free.
Fortunately, there’s a number of ways on how to control dandruff and sticking with a healthy hair-care regimen is one of the best natural remedies that you can try. Though, you have to know that patience and dedication are needed because natural remedies usually take time before you can see the results.
Without further ado, here are some of the basic home remedies to cure dandruff:
1. Neem
The antibacterial and antifungal properties of this herb are known to be helpful in treating dandruff, as well as various hair problems, such as itchy scalp, scalp acne, and even hair fall!
Directions:
– In a saucepan, pour 4 cups of water and several neem leaves. Let it boil.
– Strain and allow it to cool down.
– With the use of a mortar and pestle, pound the leaves and use it on your hair at least twice a week.
2. Apple Cider Vinegar
The natural scalp and hair treatment with the use of apple cider vinegar is a great way to say goodbye to dandruff. The ACV regenerates the pH balance of the scalp, that it could also prevent the multiplication of yeast– the common cause of dandruff. Aside from that, it also functions as a natural hair cleanser, as it thoroughly cleans the pores of the skin and hair follicles.
Directions:
– Mix 2 tablespoons of ACV with 2 tablespoons of water and 15-20 drops of tea tree oil.
– Apply the mixture on your scalp and let it sit for a few minutes.
– Rinse your hair after, and condition as usual.
– This treatment should be done at least twice a week.
3. Coconut Oil
Coconut oil has a number of uses, and one of which is that, it can effectively eliminate dandruff because of its antifungal properties. Not just that, it also acts as a gentle moisturizer on dry scalp, that it can alleviate itching. Also, coconut oil and lemon juice together can work magic on itchy scalp.
Directions:
– Mix some coconut oil and lemon juice together.
– Rub the mixture on your scalp, massaging it for a few minutes.
– After 20 minutes, you can now wash your hair.
– Do this remember at least twice a week to see promising results.
4. Baking Soda
Baking soda is a mild exfolliant that can efficiently remove dead skin cells, and it can also absorb the excess oil that could potentially clog the pores. Likewise, it balances the pH levels on the scalp, reducing the occurrence of dandruff.
Directions:
– Dampen your hair and apply a handful of baking soda on your scalp.
– Massage gently and let it sit for a couple of minutes.
– Rinse with warm water, and do this treatment for at least twice a week.
5. Olive Oil
Just like coconut oil, olive oil also has a number of uses. It can cure scalp dryness, and it also acts as a natural hair moisturizer.
Directions:
1. Heat a few tablespoons of olive oil until it becomes slightly warm.
2. Massage it all over your head, focusing on the scalp and put on a shower cap.
3. Leave the treatment for at least 30 minutes, or overnight if it’s possible.
4. Rinse well.
