THE DOCTRINE OF THE RESURRECTION (a)

John 5:28-29 describes a very complete manner this blessed hope of the resurrection of the dead, which was announced and known by many since ancient times. Let us quote John 5:28-29.

"Marvel not at this for the hour is coming in the which are all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation."

LET'S NOT MARVEL AT THIS. The Lord said these words to the Pharisees, and we should direct these words to ourselves today--"Marvel not at this!"

These words were said to shut the mouths of the Pharisees when HE was being persecuted for healing the sick man of Bethesda on the Sabbath.

In Chapter 5 of the Gospel of John, the Lord didn't just tell them that He was the LORD OF THE SABBATH, but also LORD OF LIFE AND DEATH. Let's remember that He said to Martha, Lazarus' sister, "I am the resurrection and the life." He is the author of the resurrection.
